French Synth-Pop Bands and Artists

French Synth-pop was a widely popular music genre in the 80’s. The French infatuation for electronic music was probably the result of France’s central European location with Germany and Kraftwerk on one side, the UK and Depeche Mode on the other. The fact that some British bands were also using French female vocals probably helped.

While plenty of 80s artists, bands and duos followed the steps of Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk other pop opportunists also jump the bandwagon for better or worse.

The most noticeable French bands and artists playing Synth-Pop in the 80’s include Taxi Girl, Etienne Daho, Indochine, Lio, Stephane Eicher. As for the new generation, there is Xeno & Oklander, Gargantua, Noisegun among others.
